Intermittent fasting for women 50+ instructions…
Metabolism has slowed down, energy is disappearing and there is great fatigue!
That feeling that something is happening and I can't stop it?
I remember when I was around 50, I suddenly realized that my body was working differently. You know that too!
You still have many years ahead of you. And you want to be fit, energetic, and preferably without medication, counting calories, and the feeling that you're always doing something wrong.
So let's talk about fasting. Really. Without making promises that go beyond reality.
What happened to our ancestors – and what should happen to us?
Humans evolved with the idea that sometimes they had something to eat and sometimes they didn't. Hunters and gatherers didn't have a refrigerator open 24/7. Their bodies learned to function well even with breaks in eating.
But now we're still eating!!! Breakfast, snack, lunch, another snack, dinner. Five, six servings a day. Our body is chronically tired from it.
When you eat constantly (a new meal every few hours), your body is constantly in „food processing“ mode. The pancreas secretes insulin, the digestive system works, energy sources are mobilized. It’s as if your body is constantly running a marathon instead of resting.
Giving your body a break from time to time is more natural for it than constantly consuming food.

How to do it without drama – 16/8 mode
The simplest and most sustainable format is called 16/8. It means: you don't eat for 16 hours, you can eat for 8 hours.
In practice? For example, you don't eat from eight in the evening to twelve in the afternoon. Or from seven in the evening to three in the afternoon. You choose what suits your life. Period.
The beauty is that during those 16 hours, you will sleep for half of it. You wake up, have some tea or water, and there are only a few hours left of fasting.
Are you starting out? You don't have to jump to 16 hours right away. Try 12 hours first. Then 14. The body gets used to the change gradually, and that's right.
What do you do/eat during a „fast“?
And that's the important point. During those 16 hours, you don't eat ANYTHING. Not even a piece. Not even "just that apple, it won't break the fast."„
INTERRUPT!
The body starts digesting and you know what happens – it ends before it even starts.
What yes: water, unflavored tea, black coffee without milk and sugar - try bulletproof coffee!!! Mineral water is best without bubbles or only slightly sparkling. The winning tip of many women? Loose green tea, which will slightly excite you and, by the way, also slightly supports fat burning.
What to eat within eight hours
Please focus here: this is not a license to mindlessly overeat.
It may seem that if you don't eat for 16 hours, you can then indulge in anything. But no – NO NO. If you pile on cream, sugar and pastries during those eight hours, your body will thank you with fatigue and a feeling of overheating.
Yes, you might lose weight – a calorie deficit works. But you'll feel miserable. And you won't be able to maintain it in the long term anyway.
Focus on food quality:
🍗 Proteins – meat, fish, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt. They will fill you up and protect muscles, which naturally decrease with age.
🥑 Healthy fats – avocado, olive oil, nuts. They are not the enemy. They are fuel for the brain and hormones.
🥦 Vegetables and fruits (in moderation) – watch the quantity, but don’t limit it unnecessarily. ❌ Avoid: industrial sugar, white bread, pasta and all those traps of the food industry. Your body deserves better treatment
Why start now – at fifty and beyond
Yes, most women start because of weight. But that's just the beginning.
During fasting, things happen in the body. cellular level:
- Insulin levels drop → the body releases fat more easily.
- Growth hormone levels rise.
- The body "cleanses" itself - it gets rid of damaged and old cells.
This is not magic. This is simply biology. And what do women in their fifties really feel?
Better energy throughout the day – no sugar spikes.
Clearer thinking – the proverbial „brain fog“ disappears.
A more stable mood – the body takes a break from the hormonal roller coaster.
Lower blood pressure, better cholesterol.
And yes – easier weight loss, without those dramatic diets and conflicting advice.
What to expect in the first few weeks
Let's be honest - beginnings are not fun.
The first few days you will be hungrier, irritable, and maybe have a headache. Your brain will be screaming, "Where's the bread?!"„
But hold on. This is not a sign that it's not working. On the contrary – it is evidence that the body is adapting.
After a week, or two at most, it will break. You will stop feeling hungry, your energy will increase, and you will suddenly realize that you no longer need breakfast to be happy.
💧 Tip: Drink more water. Many „hunger“ feelings are actually thirst.

How to handle it in everyday life
Don't make a dogma out of it.
You don't have to fast every day, or have the same times as your partner or friend.
If you can do it five times a week, you have most benefits.
And when dinner with friends comes around? Just have it. The next day you'll be back to fasting.
Gradually, you will discover that it is actually easy and natural - without diets and without feeling like you have to punish yourself.
When to be careful
Fasting is not for everyone.
❗ If you have diabetes (especially type 1), eating disorders, kidney disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding – consult a doctor.
But if you're a healthy woman in your fifties and want to find out what happens when you give your body some space – go for it.
A final word
Fasting is not a miracle or an elixir of youth. It's just one of the easiest ways to take back control.
Over food. Over energy, our body and mood.
And at a time when the world often suggests to us that "our best years are behind us" - that's when it makes sense to show that No.
It's not about being smaller, skinnier, younger, or perfect.
It's about being conscious, healthy, free and yourself - even after fifty. 🌿
An added bonus? Autophagy.
This word sounds complicated, but it means something completely natural – internal cell cleaning. When the body goes without food for an extended period of time, it triggers a process in which it destroys damaged parts of cells and recycles them for new energy. The result? Less inflammation, better regeneration, and slower aging – in short, a biological reboot. 🧬✨
