Brian Johnson celebrates 77 years, AC/DC legend and singer
AC/DC's Brian Johnson turns 77! From Geordie to Back in Black, from storms to world stages – a legend who never lost his spark. ⚡🎤
When you say AC/DC, most people hear the first notes in their heads. Back in Black.
He was born on October 5, 1947, and to this day he is proof that rock'n'roll never ages, it just matures. 💥 And that raspy voice that hits you in the chest right after the opening riffs belongs to the man who became a symbol of rock immortality – Brian Johnson.
From Geordie to AC/DC: journey to the legend ⚡
Brian started out in the 1970s with the band Geordie, where he already showed that his voice was from another universe.
But the real turning point came in 1980, when, after the tragic death of Bon Scott, he received a phone call that changed the history of rock. He accepted the offer to become the new singer for AC/DC – and within a few months, he recorded the album Back in Black with them, which became the second best-selling album of all time and the most successful hard rock album in history.
This album wrote a new musical law: hard work, heart, sweat, and a voice that cuts like a razor.
Rock, sweat and a flat cap 😋
Brian is also inseparable from his iconic flat cap, which he reportedly put on to keep sweat from running into his eyes. He hasn't taken it off since – and it has become as much a part of his image as his rough, electrifying voice.
He is always the same on stage – untamed, authentic, unfettered. When he sings Thunderstruck, you feel like he could spin a storm just with the power of his vocal cords. ⚡
Life among engines and riffs 🏎️
Off stage, he loves speed and the smell of petrol. Brian is a racer through and through – he has competed in motor racing, loves flying and his other passion is Newcastle United Football Club.
Just a guy who lives life to the fullest – and has never lost his humility or sense of humor.
Return of the legend 🎸
In 2016, hearing problems nearly cost him his career. He filled in for him in the band. Axl W. Rose of Guns N' Roses. But Johnson refused to give up and in 2020 he stood behind the microphone with AC/DC again on the album Power Up. And he sounded just as raw, strong and relentless as he did forty years ago.
Rock power that never ages 🥂
Today, October 5th, Brian Johnson celebrates his 77th birthday – and we're sending him a loud rock salute! 🖤
Because he proved to us, that age is just a number, but energy is a choice.
Happy Birthday, Brian! May it always sing to you so that the whole planet trembles. 🌍🎤
With love and admiration,
Daniela ❤️
So — why did he "change the world of rock"?
👉 Because Back in Black (1980), which he sang, definitively redefined hard rock.
After the death of Bon Scott, the band was on the verge of breaking up.
When Brian came along, he did the impossible — not just replace the icon, but at the same time helped create an album that became the second best-selling album in the world.
In doing so, he proved that rock can be hard, emotional, and universal — and that even after tragedy, a legend can be born.
Additionally:
- His unmistakable voice (raw, full of energy, rough but melodic) became the standard of hard rock vocals.
- Inspires entire generations singers and bands – from Guns N' Roses to Foo Fighters.
- And yet he remained an ordinary guy from Newcastle who just "likes to scream into the microphone". 😎
