And this is what you do? How are you unnecessarily shortening your life?
Sometimes I wonder how little it takes to undermine our own health.
So what???
Usually, these are not big mistakes – more like little things that we do every day. Automatically. Without thinking. I believe you know it too: you get up, turn on your phone, drink coffee on an empty stomach and run like a squirrel in a wheel all day. And in the evening? You fall. And then you wonder why you are tired, irritable and your body is giving you signals that it has had enough.
And I say – maybe it's time to stop. Not to criticize ourselves, but to realized, What is really good for us. And what is not.
Morning without water and breath
The first habit that destroys more than we admit.
We reach for our phone right after waking up instead of a glass of water. We drink coffee without giving our bodies what they really need – breath and hydration. I did it for years. I got up, had coffee, quickly checked emails, and then I was surprised that I had a headache. Today I know that the body needs water, oxygen, and peace after a night out. All it takes is three deep breaths by the window, a glass of water with lemon, and two minutes in silence. And yes – sunlight/morning light! That is, if it's not 5 in the morning.
No, it's not a wellness ritual. It's a basic reboot.

You eat under stress – and wonder why you don't feel well
Honestly, how many times a day do you eat with your phone in your hand? Standing up? Walking?
Before – I read the news, answered emails, and at the same time „threw“ lunch into myself. But digestion works when we are calm. When the brain knows it is time to eat!
Your digestive system shuts down when you're stressed, and your body can't even process healthy food.
It's not about diets, it's about being present. Sitting down, turning off everything around you and just eating. Calmly.
You sleep little – and you call it „business as usual“
„"I just don't sleep much, you can get used to it."“
Yeah, that's what you all say... before your body starts protesting.
So I DON'T! I LOVE sleep! And a nap after O is the height of luxury ❣
Lack of sleep is not a sign of strength or resilience. It is a sign that we have become disconnected from the basic rhythm of life!
Sleep is the only true "detox" we have for free.
It regenerates cells, repairs the brain, and balances hormones.
When you deny it, your body slowly disintegrates – you just don't notice it right away.
Until one day you wake up and realize that everything hurts.
You drink little water – but a lot of coffee
That's a classic. Coffee first, water only when I "remember".
And what's worse, coffee and cigarettes! Unfortunately, I was also part of the coffee and cig team – yuck! But now it's just coffee, of course, after a glass of water🤗
I'm that type of person – I love the smell of coffee. But I've found that when I don't drink enough water, my body goes into emergency mode.
The skin is drier, the brain slower, energy fluctuates.
Miracle? Start counting glasses of water, not cups of coffee.
And if you don't like water – add a slice of lemon, mint or a piece of cucumber. Simple but effective.
Too much television (and screens in general)
We all know it. You sit down for a while, watch a series, and before you know it, it's... really late.
You think to yourself: "It's relaxing, isn't it?" But the body sees it differently.
Every hour spent in front of the TV or mobile phone costs you a piece of your life.
Literally. A study from British Journal of Sports Medicine shows that watching television for an average of six hours a day means up to five years shorter life.
And it's not just about television – it's about a movement that isn't happening in the meantime.
I set a simple rule: max two hours of passive viewing per day.
It may sound ridiculous, but it works.
And most importantly - evening candlelight instead of the blue light of a screen does wonders for your psyche and sleep.

Junk food (or, we are what we eat)
This chapter could easily have its own book.
But to put it simply: what we put into our bodies either adds life to us... or slowly takes it away.
It's not about diets, trends or bans. It's about balance.
The body after fifty doesn't want "less food", it wants more quality.
It mainly needs protein, fat, fiber and a minimum of empty calories.
And yes – the latest research confirms that the biggest "miracle" against aging is muscles.
So yes, food is important, but exercise is key.
One doesn't work without the other.
And most importantly – eat with joy, not with regret.
Because stress from eating is more harmful than the cake itself. 🍰
Lack of exercise – the worst thing you can do to yourself!
It's no surprise – but we still have to hear it over and over again.
Exercise is medicine. And lack of it is a silent killer, literally!
I know that not all of us feel like running around the gym or lifting weights. But you know what? It's not even necessary.
It is important to move regularly and with joy. The body doesn't need performance, it needs rhythm.
Just a simple walk, a little dancing, yoga, gardening, or a few squats between washing dishes is enough.
Honestly – the best „exercise“ is the one you enjoy.
And yes, muscles are our insurance company. Without them, we age faster, our backs hurt, our balance deteriorates, and we lose the strength to do the things we love.
I say: you don't have to work hard, you have to move.
Regularly, naturally, with taste.
Maybe just taking the stairs instead of the elevator will add a few minutes to your life every day.
You do everything for everyone – and forget about yourself
„"I'll arrange it, I'll do it, I'll take care of it..."“
How many times have you said this? And how many times have you sat there in the evening completely empty, without energy, without any desire for anything?
I'm selfish or maybe lazy, but just go for it!
For a long time, I thought that being strong meant being able to handle everything.
But real power is in saying NO.
Consciously, without remorse. Because every "yes" to others that goes against you is a small betrayal of yourself.
Conclusion – And this is what you do?
Maybe not everything. But something for sure. And that's okay.
We are not perfect.
We just need to be reminded sometimes that the body and soul are not separate worlds.
When you slow down, take a drink, take a deep breath, suddenly everything starts to change.
Life will not miraculously be extended – it will only become better.
And honestly, I'm not perfect either, after all, who is...
Maybe this all sounds like I have everything under control – but I don't.
I too am now basically „preaching water and drinking wine“. Or rather… as they say – The blacksmith's mare walks barefoot.
The last few years have been difficult for me.
Surgery, a long period of immobility, the loss of my mother, which completely broke me...
I quit smoking (yes, it's possible even after decades), but at the same time I felt tired, overweight, sad, and empty.
And then that familiar feeling – that the body doesn't want to, the head can't and I'm lazy as hell!
Now I'm standing at the beginning.
And I say to myself – it doesn't matter where you are now.
The important thing is that you want to move on.
And I believe it's worth it.
Because living long is not the goal.
The goal is to live well and with quality!
