Planets in the February sky: a cosmic spectacle❣

What's actually happening in the February sky and is it worth it?

YES – the February sky is really worth it this year!

Look, I'll admit it – when a friend sent me a message saying that all the planets would align on February 28th and that it supposedly happens once every thousand years, I almost believed her. There were so many shares, those exclamation points, those photos of the beautiful night sky… and I, even though I know the internet likes to exaggerate, immediately wanted to know one thing: is it true? And most importantly – is it worth going to see?

It's worth it. And I'm going out on Saturday, February 28th.

So first, a little reality check, because I think we deserve it. The planetary parade – that is, the situation where you can see all the planets of the solar system in the night sky at once – is not a phenomenon of the millennium. It is not even a record. It is a nice thing, but not a miracle. In the summer of 2022, the planets were lined up even more compactly. The internet just loves to roar, we know it 😋

But what will actually happen on Saturday, February 28, 2026?

after sunset they line up above the southwestern horizon Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Mars will join them. All the planets of the solar system in one sky. At once. Visible – at least the brighter ones – with the naked eye. That's a fact. And that's beautiful, no matter who underestimates or exaggerates it.

And now the most beautiful thing – Venus. Our Večernice.

Do you know why I love her so much? Because she will shine the brightest of all. You won't miss her even if you wanted to. Venus - the planet our ancestors called the Evening Star - is the first light to appear in the sky after sunset. And it is a feminine light, soft, brighter than the stars around it.

When I look at it, I always get the feeling that it shines a little differently than the rest of the sky. As if it knows we're watching it. Jupiter is prominent, Mars glows orange, Saturn is golden—but Venus, our Evening Star, shines first and brightest. She's the one who makes it worth going outside before dark.

Mercury – the faintest of the bunch – will emerge in late February and will be best observed around February 24, when it will visually snuggle up to Saturn. Uranus and Neptune are invisible to the naked eye, but with binoculars you will see small greenish-blue disks. And that has a completely different beauty – a quieter, more subtle one.

How to actually look at it?

Simple. No special technique, no expensive equipment – although binoculars are handy. You need a clear view of the southwestern horizon, ideally without trees or roofs in the way. Go out 30 to 45 minutes after sunset. The sky needs to be clear. And then just look up. That’s it.

If you want a little guide to the night chart, use the Moon as a reference point. It poses with a different planet each day—as if it's strolling around and saying hello to its neighbors. It was closest to Saturn on January 31, it came closest to Venus on February 1, it appeared next to Jupiter on February 6... and it keeps going like that until the end of the month.

The magic when you look at it...

You know what fascinates me more than the planets themselves? That feeling you get when you really stop in the evening, step outside your home – maybe in a coat over your pajamas, with a mug of tea in your hand – and just look up. Suddenly I feel special. Seriously. It was like the universe was putting on a personal show for me.

Mercury is 58 million kilometers from the Sun. Neptune is 4.5 billion. And yet now they're both visible at once from your backyard, from your rooftop, from your balcony. The entire solar system is suddenly in front of you. And you're here, on this little planet, and you see it all at once. That's quite a different feeling than scrolling through Instagram, isn't it?

It's simply beautiful. No exaggeration, no big words. You're standing outside, the night is quiet around you, and up there – seven worlds shine at once. It's as if the entire universe stopped for a moment and said: here I am. Look.

I am convinced that we – women over 50 – can appreciate this moment more than anyone else. Because we know what it is to stand outside at night and just breathe. We know what it is to be quiet. We know what it is to finally have a moment to ourselves – without explanations, without planning, without anyone wanting lunch.

A few minutes are all it takes. Just you and seven worlds above your head. And the feeling that you are part of something much bigger than your diary for next week.

And what do the stars say? Because why not.

It would be a shame to leave this out, because astrology has something to say about these days – and honestly, I don't always dismiss it as nonsense. Around February 27th and 28th, several interesting aspects come together at once.

So whether you're a believer in astrology or not, the energy around the end of February is intense. And the night sky only underscores it.

February 27-28: Space Power Plant in the Living Room

No myths, just facts. These 48 hours are an energetic „armageddon“ for the old order. Here’s what we women will feel firsthand:

1. „Not another second!“ (Mars square Uranus)

This is an aspect absolute impatience. If something has been bothering you for a year, now you'll be pissed on Friday or Saturday.

  • In practice: It's that moment when a woman looks at an old curtain, a malfunctioning stove, or a toxic relationship and says, "Enough." Mars in Aquarius wants freedom, Uranus in Taurus wants a change of substance.
  • Risk: We will tend to burn bridges. Beware of sharp words and quick movements – the body is under current and the muscles (or tongue) may be faster than the brain.

2. „Something is ending, but I don’t know what“ (Saturn conjunct Neptune)

This constellation dissolves boundaries. It is like a fog in which old certainties are lost.

  • In practice: Many women feel a huge fatigue to apathy. It's not laziness, it's a "system upgrade." The old strategies for survival (serving others, keeping quiet, and keeping up) are no longer working.
  • Profit: If you allow yourself to lie down and "just be," visions will come. Neptune gives us intuition, Saturn gives it form. This is the time when the best ideas for a new business or lifestyle are born.

3. "Vabank in the wallet" (Uranus at the North Node)

The North Node is fate. Uranus is lightning. In Taurus (matter, money) it means a radical change in values.

  • In practice: We will stop believing in „saving for a pillow.“ Women will have the courage to try investments they’ve only read about before (AI, ETFs, new technologies). It’s a feeling of, „When else but now?“
  • Luck: It is an aspect of sudden wins, but also losses due to inattention. Money intuition is at its peak now, but banker's tables will seem like they are from prehistoric times.

4. The Body as a Barometer (Stellium in Pisces and Aries)

When the planets line up like this, the body can't process it.

  • In practice: The head wants to fly (Aries), the soul wants to dream (Pisces), but the body may react with inflammation, fever or pressure. It is an internal struggle between "I must" and "I can".

Readers' verdict:

These two days are not about cleaning the apartment, but about cleaning priorities. It's an energetic short circuit that's supposed to blow the fuses wherever we're just surviving out of habit. If you're feeling down, it's only because you're bouncing back to something completely new.

Until mid-March – then it disappears

Don't delay too long. In mid-March, this lineup will start to fall apart. The planets will go their separate ways - some will hide behind the Sun, others will move into the morning sky. This particular constellation will end.

So if you want to experience that feeling – and I'm telling you, it's worth it – go out on a Saturday night. Just be yourself. Just be quiet. Just be in those favorite shoes that you don't go out in because they're a shame.

Look up. Find Venus – our Evening Star, the brightest. And then keep looking. Be patient. Let your eyes adjust to the darkness.

And if you feel something in that moment – peace, awe, a sudden gratitude for being here and seeing this – that's exactly why astrophysicists spend their lives looking through telescopes. Because the universe reminds us from time to time how big the world is outside the window.

So don't miss it❣

And if you go out on Saturday – write to me how it was. If you found Večernice. If you felt the magic. Or if you decided to stay home with wine and Netflix – I get that too. Big girls can choose.
