How do I know I will age well? (and does it matter?)
Aging well doesn't just mean looking good!
Oh, that mirror.
When I look in the mirror in the morning, I sometimes wonder – what will I look like in ten years? In twenty? Will I look my age, or will nature forgive me a little more?

And then I stop, because actually… does it even matter?
Yes and no. Because aging well isn't just about looking young. It's about feeling good. In your skin. In your life. And yes, a little bit about the face I see in the mirror every day.
So – let's talk about what influences how we age. But not to scare ourselves. Rather, so that we know what to watch out for. And so that we can forgive ourselves for what we can't change anyway.
What will reveal what you will look like in twenty years?
Your mom (and dad too)
I remember my mom, unfortunately she is no longer here, but she never looked her age. People told her she looked young, and she just smiled. She didn't apply anything extra, she didn't have any rituals - she just had great genes. As she said, sometimes I apply indulona or lard 😘 … happy woman ❣
And this is where it all begins. If your mom looks young, there's a good chance you will too. Genetics play a huge role – the shape of your face, the texture of your skin, how quickly you wrinkle. All of that was passed down to you by your parents as a gift (or sometimes more like… well, what can we do).
But be careful – even the best genes can be messed up, and even the worst ones can be worked on a little! Smoking, alcohol, lack of sleep, stress. All of these things will mess up your genes faster than you think. „"botox".
Your cheekbones
Do you know what Meryl Streep and many other women who look better and better with age have in common? High cheekbones and an oval face.
It's not just aesthetics—it's geometry. When your facial proportions are balanced, your cheeks don't sag as much with age. And that makes you look younger even as you get older.
So yeah – if you have the bones, you have the advantage. If not… well, you’re still beautiful. Just different.
How did you treat the sun?
Hey, I'm a child of the 60s and 70s. All summer outside, no sunscreen, sunburn as the price of a good base tan. I look at it today and think - what on earth were we doing?
The sun ages us a lot. Sunspots (age spots – ugh, that’s an expression!), wrinkles, loss of elasticity. If you’ve been going around without sunscreen your whole life, you’ll see it. On your hands, neck, face. And what about the sunbed queens! Luckily, I got over that..for A – they really looked weird and for B, I didn’t enjoy lying in those coffins 😂
And yes, there are things you can do about it – lasers, peels, creams. But prevention is the best. So if you apply SPF to your face every day now, you're doing yourself a huge favor in the future!
Your hair
Hair is a symbol of vitality – the crown of beauty!!! And hair is a reflection of your lifestyle, nutrition and health!!! Flowing, thick, shiny hair simply looks young. Thinning, dull, brittle strands? That will add years to you, even if you are thirty.
I noticed it after the surgery, when my hair started falling out a little more. I suddenly looked more tired. Older. So I started with– vitamins, the right shampoo, less heat on the blow dryer. Did it help? Yeah. A little.

Hair care isn't just a cosmetic. It's an investment in how you'll feel in a few years.
What you can do about it (and what you can't)
Okay, you can't change your genetics. You can't change your cheekbones either (well, unless you want surgery). But a lot of things are in your hands.
Sunscreen.
Every day. Even in winter. Even when it's cloudy. This is the easiest way to slow down skin aging.
Enough sleep.
When you don't get enough sleep, your face knows it. Sunken eyes, gray skin, wrinkles. Sleep is the best anti-aging treatment there is – and it's free.
Movement.
You don't have to run a marathon. Just walk, do yoga, swim. Anything that keeps you moving. Muscle mass declines with age—and with it, energy. So the more you move, the better you'll feel.
Food that is good for you.
Vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, protein. Not all the time – but most of the time. Your skin, your hair, your energy – it all depends on what you put into it.
But actually... does it even matter?
You know what I found out? The most beautiful woman I know has wrinkles around her eyes. She has gray hair. And she looks amazing.
Because she laughs. She is happy. And she enjoys life.
Aging well doesn't mean looking twenty when you're fifty. It means living a life that makes you happy. Surrounding yourself with people who love you. Doing things that fulfill you. And not being afraid of getting older.
Age is just a number: Age is influenced not only by calendar age, but also by attitude towards life.
Because those years – they are a gift. Old age is a privilege. Not everyone lives to see it. Every extra year is a gift!
