Ten things that make us look older than we really are
(...or how to avoid aging faster than your mobile phone)
They say age is just a number. And it’s true! But what if that number starts acting like a PIN to your retirement account? The truth is, “getting older” isn’t just about your collagen going crazy and your joints waking up before your brain. It’s about how you perceive the world, how you behave, and whether you start a sentence with the words “in our younger years…” So let’s take a quick look at what makes us unnecessarily old.
1. Resignation to life
"Why try, I'm already old..."
Does this sound familiar? If so, you've just signed up for VIP membership in the "I'm giving up" club. Sure, you won't recover from a party as quickly as you did in your 20s, but that doesn't mean you should give up on everything you enjoy. You don't age because you've gotten older, you age because you've decided to give up having fun, exploring new things, and maybe even a little bit of craziness.
Old age does not begin with a number on your ID card, but when we stop wanting to discover, learn and enjoy life. Fortunately, it's just a matter of the mind, and We are preparing a special article about this! 😉💡
2. Negative attitude towards young people
"These kids don't even know what real music is anymore!"
Yo, just like when your parents used to say that “real music” was the Beatles and you used to play Nirvana on your Walkman. Did you find that funny too? Well, you just found yourself on the same wavelength. Generations change, trends change, and if you want to feel young, stop cursing Tik Tok and try a new dance instead (let the kids have fun too!).
3. "This is how it always worked!"
Congratulations! You just said something your younger self swore he would never say. If you think that everything new is automatically bad and that old ways are always better, well… welcome to the era of mental retirement. Adapting to change is key to keeping your mind fresh. So yes, you might need to download a new banking app, and yes, push-button phones might not be cool anymore.
💡 Unwillingness to learn new things is one of the first steps towards premature aging. Once we give up on discovering, growing, and adapting to the world around us, we begin to to be trapped in a bubble of stagnation. And stagnation is a silent killer of youthful energy! 🚀
👉 Let's not be left behind - life is changing, so let's be a part of it. New technologies, new approaches, new opportunities – All of this can enrich us if we allow ourselves to be open. 💜
4. Everyday stress
You know it. You come home, throw your purse or bag in the corner, and you can already feel another wrinkle growing on your forehead. But it's not just work - we stress about missing a tram, about headlines on the Internet ("The world is heading for destruction!" - like for the fiftieth time), or about the neighbor who mows the lawn exactly when you want to take a nap. But when you turn every little problem into a life drama, it's the best recipe for rapid aging. So take a deep breath... and have a glass of wine (but just one, not the whole bottle, okay).
💡 Don't say what you don't have control over. Unnecessary stress eats away at all of our energy. beautiful energy, beauty and joy of presence Instead, Focus on the positive things – even the smallest joys of life!
✨ Fragrant morning coffee, sun rays on your face, a smile from a stranger... We can experience all of this every day. So why not enjoy it instead of just adding more wrinkles? 😉
5. Overeating and not eating enough vegetables
"I'll treat myself today... and start eating healthy tomorrow!"
Sure, that's how every diet starts... that never starts. Eating well doesn't mean munching on salad and living on grains, but maybe swapping the fried steak for something your body won't turn into fat pads on your sides from time to time. And if you want proof that healthy eating works, look at the people who live in the so-called "Blue Zones" - they live to be hundreds and are jumping rope at 90.
💡 A big article about Blue Zones is on its way! 💡
You can look forward to a good dose of inspiration on how to get the best out of their lifestyle and practically incorporate it into everyday life. No nonsense diet, just a healthy approach to eating, exercising and being well. Because that's what it's all about – live peacefully, but to the fullest! 💜🚀
6. Worn clothes (and not vintage style!)
Yes, retro is back, but be careful – there’s a difference between “stylishly retro” and “I’ve been wearing it since 1995 and I’m not going to change it.” If you have a sweater in your closet that reminds you of your prom, maybe it’s time to send it to fashion heaven. And no, this doesn’t mean you have to start wearing crop tops and unicorn leggings, but a little modern styling never hurt anyone.
And hand on heart – the woman who reads this blog, definitely don't wear loose-fitting T-shirts and sweaters , unless he's lying on the couch at home or digging in the garden. 😉 Style is about self-confidence and conscious choice – and we, big girls, have it in our little ones! 💜🔥
7. Too sedentary dressing style
A gray pantsuit, a white blouse, black pumps… and suddenly you’re wearing the uniform of an “adult.” A little color and playfulness in your wardrobe won’t hurt. Don’t be afraid to mix and match, experiment, and most importantly, wear things that make you feel good. And if someone tells you that “that’s not appropriate for your age anymore” – tell them to kick off their heels.
And speaking of style... no one has such an amazing bohemian wardrobe as my sister! 💃✨ She shines with colors and carries herself through the world like the Queen of Sheba. Her wardrobe is like a work of art – full of bold combinations, patterns and elegance. Sure, it's not a style for everyone, but that's what makes it unique! She is the Goddess who proves that Fashion is about personal expression, not rules..
I'm still alone. I'm struggling to slowly give up on the ubiquitous black and all its shades. … But I don't care anymore it's going well! 😉🔥
8. Heavy makeup that adds years
Makeup can do wonders. Unfortunately, if you apply enough to cover a window, it can easily add a decade to your age. Dark eyeshadow, heavy powder, and the wrong lipstick can sometimes do more harm than good. Less is sometimes more – and most importantly, moisturize, because glowing skin never looks old.
Underneath the heavy makeup I can always see dubious feminine nouns, what I'm trying to cover up everything - and what are we going to do, we're making it up to ourselves quite oldthan we would like. While subtle, natural makeup on beautiful, healthy skin? 💖 This is elegance on a whole other level!
And if you want to add some spice, red lipstick is always a great idea. 💄🔥 Just highlight the best in yourself, not trying to cover up the rest! 😊
9. Lack of sleep (or poor sleep hygiene)
“I sleep five hours and that’s enough for me!” No, it’s not. You may feel that way, but your body thinks otherwise. Lack of sleep causes dark circles under your eyes, a tired look, and a bit of complaining about everything and everyone. A properly set sleep schedule will add years to your life – and make you look fresher. So turn off Netflix, put down your phone, and go to bed.
And what's the worst? Sleep deprivation and fatigue are visible even at 20! The Holy Truth "Sleep" into beauty " is no fabrication - quality sleep is another cheapest anti-aging hack, which exists. 😴💖 So no excuses and get into bed – because you want to look fresh in the morning, not like a zombie. 🧟♀️🔥
10. Wrinkles from unnecessary bad habits
Whether it's smoking, drinking too much alcohol, stress, or too much sun exposure, it's all bad for your skin. Every sip of cheap wine and every cigarette you smoke will leave a mark on you like a bailiff's signature. If you want to look younger, start acting like someone who plans to look good for a long time. Small changes, big difference!
And we know it absolutely accurate – each of us has your own trouble . 🌿🍷🌞
Whatever it is tanning without SPF, occasional cigarette "just with coffee" , or maybe something as "innocent" as sleeping on your stomach with your face buried in the pillow . 😅 (…But I'm for it I can't, otherwise I won't sleep! 😇)
But to minimized the damage, At least I bought a silk pillowcase – because if I have this bad habit, at least let it be stylish and gentle on the skin and even the hair ! ✨💜
Conclusion: Let's not take ourselves so seriously!
Aging is normal. But that doesn't mean we have to voluntarily add years to our lives by giving up everything we enjoy. A little care for our body and mind, a good mood, and the ability to laugh at ourselves – that's the real elixir of youth. Cheers, girls, and don't forget – age is just a number. And that number can easily be a few less if we know how! 😉
