Non-dominant hand: Let our brains try!
Well, girls, I have to say it straight: Sometimes I feel like my brain is falling asleep. I do everything automatically – morning coffee, brushing my teeth, getting dressed 😇
One hand is shaking and second?
She just assists as if she were at a spa.
I say to myself: „"Do I want to turn into a robot when I'm old?"“ I don't want to! I want to stay sharp, focused, and just... alive.

Why the "crazy" feeling in my head?
We all know it. We try to focus on a hundred things at once, but the result? We're not focused on even one. Our brains tend to run to lists of things we still have to buy or things we should have done a long time ago.
And this is a stop sign! 🛑
I discovered that there is enormous potential in our "less skillful" hand. Not only for concentration, but also for inner well-being and peace of mind.
Neuroplasticity – Wisdom with a Blade 💎
Have you heard about neuroplasticity? It's the amazing ability of the brain to change and adapt. When you start using your non-dominant hand:
- You activate other parts of the brain: Those who normally snore during automatic activities.
- You force your brain into action: This „uncomfortable“ activity brings you back to the present moment. It’s a small, non-violent mindfulness practice that we women over 50 really need.
My left hand on a first date… 💃
Experts (for example, from the University of Florida) they mainly recommend writing – supposedly 15 minutes a day. Well, I tried it and… honestly? It almost made me aggressive! My hand acts like it's on its first date – clumsy, confused, and mixing up sides.
But that's the point! Being in slight discomfort for a while to stay in shape.
How to do it (a small checklist for new brain connections):
- Draw geometric shapes.
- Write your name (give the shopping list to someone else so you don't choke yourself).
- Try brushing your teeth. or comb your hair.
- And for adrenaline enthusiasts: Try using your left mouse on your computer!

End of aggressive reactions? 🧘♀️
Did you know that training your non-dominant hand improves self-control? Research shows that people who used their opposite hand for two weeks to do everyday things (opening doors, stirring coffee) reduced their aggressive reactions.
So the next time someone makes me angry, instead of yelling, I'll go and spread my bread with my left hand!
A final word:
Investing a few minutes a day in something that will keep my brain sharp? I'll take it! Your own brain will thank you.
Have you ever tried this? Let me know in the comments if your left hand cooperates or if it strikes like mine! 👇
