What's actually happening in the February sky and is it worth it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YES \u2013 the February sky is really worth it this year!<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Look, I'll admit it \u2013 when a friend sent me a message saying that all the planets would align on February 28th and that it supposedly happens once every thousand years, I almost believed her. There were so many shares, those exclamation points, those photos of the beautiful night sky\u2026 and I, even though I know the internet likes to exaggerate, immediately wanted to know one thing: is it true? And most importantly \u2013 is it worth going to see?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's worth it. And I'm going out on Saturday, February 28th.<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

So first, a little reality check, because I think we deserve it. The planetary parade \u2013 that is, the situation where you can see all the planets of the solar system in the night sky at once \u2013 is not a phenomenon of the millennium. It is not even a record. It is a nice thing, but not a miracle. In the summer of 2022, the planets were lined up even more compactly. The internet just loves to roar, we know it \ud83d\ude0b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what will actually happen on Saturday, February 28, 2026? <\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

after sunset they line up above the southwestern horizon Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune<\/a>. Mars will join them. All the planets of the solar system in one sky. At once. Visible \u2013 at least the brighter ones \u2013 with the naked eye. That's a fact. And that's beautiful, no matter who underestimates or exaggerates it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And now the most beautiful thing \u2013 Venus. Our Ve\u010dernice.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Do you know why I love her so much? Because she will shine the brightest of all. You won't miss her even if you wanted to. Venus - the planet our ancestors called the Evening Star - is the first light to appear in the sky after sunset. And it is a feminine light, soft, brighter than the stars around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I look at it, I always get the feeling that it shines a little differently than the rest of the sky. As if it knows we're watching it. Jupiter is prominent, Mars glows orange, Saturn is golden\u2014but Venus, our Evening Star, shines first and brightest. She's the one who makes it worth going outside before dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mercury \u2013 the faintest of the bunch \u2013 will emerge in late February and will be best observed around February 24, when it will visually snuggle up to Saturn. Uranus and Neptune are invisible to the naked eye, but with binoculars you will see small greenish-blue disks. And that has a completely different beauty \u2013 a quieter, more subtle one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to actually look at it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Simple. No special technique, no expensive equipment \u2013 although binoculars are handy. You need a clear view of the southwestern horizon, ideally without trees or roofs in the way. Go out 30 to 45 minutes after sunset. The sky needs to be clear. And then just look up. That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want a little guide to the night chart, use the Moon as a reference point. It poses with a different planet each day\u2014as if it's strolling around and saying hello to its neighbors. It was closest to Saturn on January 31, it came closest to Venus on February 1, it appeared next to Jupiter on February 6... and it keeps going like that until the end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The magic when you look at it...<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You know what fascinates me more than the planets themselves? That feeling you get when you really stop in the evening, step outside your home \u2013 maybe in a coat over your pajamas, with a mug of tea in your hand \u2013 and just look up. Suddenly I feel special. Seriously. It was like the universe was putting on a personal show for me.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mercury is 58 million kilometers from the Sun. Neptune is 4.5 billion. And yet now they're both visible at once from your backyard, from your rooftop, from your balcony. The entire solar system is suddenly in front of you. And you're here, on this little planet, and you see it all at once. That's quite a different feeling than scrolling through Instagram, isn't it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's simply beautiful. No exaggeration, no big words. You're standing outside, the night is quiet around you, and up there \u2013 seven worlds shine at once. It's as if the entire universe stopped for a moment and said: here I am. Look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am convinced that we \u2013 women over 50 \u2013 can appreciate this moment more than anyone else. Because we know what it is to stand outside at night and just breathe. We know what it is to be quiet. We know what it is to finally have a moment to ourselves \u2013 without explanations, without planning, without anyone wanting lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few minutes are all it takes. Just you and seven worlds above your head. And the feeling that you are part of something much bigger than your diary for next week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what do the stars say? Because why not.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It would be a shame to leave this out, because astrology has something to say about these days \u2013 and honestly, I don't always dismiss it as nonsense. Around February 27th and 28th, several interesting aspects come together at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So whether you're a believer in astrology or not, the energy around the end of February is intense. And the night sky only underscores it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
