We buy premium face creams, test hair serums, but our teeth? We brush them with the same toothpaste we used in our twenties. The enamel gradually thins (like our patience with nonsense), the yellowish dentin shows through, the gums recede, and the teeth become more sensitive than we are while watching a romantic comedy. And that&#039;s not to mention the tartar that settles in like an unwelcome Christmas guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-1f403b85\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">The biggest enemies of our teeth (and surprisingly, it&#039;s not just candy)<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sugar and acids<\/strong> \u2013 it&#039;s like Batman and the Joker. But here the evil side wins. Coffee, wine, sparkling water, lemonades... Yes, the very things that make our day more pleasant are playing havoc with our teeth. Acids eat away at enamel like an evil mother-in-law eats away at a good mood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stress<\/strong> \u2013 that damn stress! It&#039;s not enough that it makes us old, fat and God knows what else! So we grind and clench our teeth at night. The result? Worn teeth, headaches and a temporomandibular joint that protests more than we do when we see the price tag in the pharmacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not brushing your teeth before bed<\/strong> \u2013 this is really a chapter in itself. Going to bed with your teeth not brushed is like leaving your apartment door open to thieves \u2013 the bacteria will thank you for it. And honestly? It&#039;s just gross! Yuck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-8142b3c8\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">What to do about it? An action plan to keep your smile<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-8270c199\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">1. <strong>Prevention is the key (yes, it sounds like a clich\u00e9, but it&#039;s true)<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A quality toothbrush and toothpaste for sensitive teeth \u2013 choose them as carefully as you choose mascara!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cleaning at least twice a day (before going to bed is a MUST!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rinse your mouth after eating acidic or coloring foods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drink fruit juices with a straw (at least you&#039;ll look fancy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NEVER \u2013 really never brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes after eating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-9d50bd87\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">2. <strong>Dental hygiene \u2013 your new best friend<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Going to the dental hygienist twice a year is not a luxury, it&#039;s a necessity. She&#039;ll remove what you simply can&#039;t do at home. Plus, she&#039;ll show you how to do it properly. Think of it as an investment - it&#039;s better to spend two thousand a year on prevention than fifty thousand on implants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-212ef116\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">3. <strong>Night guard \u2013 it&#039;s not sexy, but it works<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you grind your teeth? YES, a mouthguard is a must. And guess what \u2013 a boxing mouthguard works too! It\u2019s bigger, maybe a little more uncomfortable, but it will protect your teeth. You might drool a little, but it will protect your teeth. And honestly, at your age, you don\u2019t need to look sexy every second, right? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-33887339\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">4. <strong>Diet as an ally<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Put more vegetables and fruits on your plate \u2013 antioxidants are good friends for your gums. And the water? Drink plenty of it, especially still water. It helps produce saliva, which is our natural protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-76f31ab4\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">5. <strong>Bad habits gone!<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Biting pens, crunching ice, opening bottles\/anything with your teeth\u2026 Leave all that to the younger ones.
