Mick Mars, born Robert Alan Deal, was born on May 4, 1951 in Indiana. His road to fame was anything but easy. He dropped out of high school as a young man and worked odd jobs while playing in various blues-rock bands without much success. After years of disappointment, he changed his name to Mick Mars and decided to break through. In 1981, he answered an ad: "Noisy, rough, aggressive guitarist wanted."

The Musical Heart of Mötley Crüe

Although Mötley Crüe were known for their wild concerts and unbridled lifestyle, Mick Mars was always seen as their greatest musician. His raw riffs, bluesy soul and unmistakable technique were what held the band together musically. Critics and fans alike agree: Mick's signature guitar playing was the secret spice that made Mötley Crüe a legend. Without his quiet but unwavering mastery, the band would never have achieved its iconic sound.

Health and illness

But inside he was fighting a relentless battle. At the age of 17, he was diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis – a painful disease that gradually deformed his spine. He bore his suffering in silence for years. He never showed it on stage, even though the pain was literally breaking him in half. Yet he never gave up. NEVER!

Despite his deteriorating condition over time, he refused to use a cane or a wheelchair. As he himself said: "If I can't get there myself, I won't do it."

His life wasn't just about pain and music. It also included betrayals, losses, and constant struggles - not only with his illness, but also with those around him. After many years, he left the Mötley Crüe tour in 2022 and sued the band for questionable practices. But his journey didn't end there - a new chapter began.

2024 -solo album "The Other Side of Mars

He released a solo album in 2024 The Other Side of Mars aged 73 years – and it's a blast. Hard riffs, dark feeling, untamed energy. Mick Mars thus he proved that the fire within him is still burning, which will never be extinguished.

As he himself says: "I try to keep growing, because when you stop learning new things, when you stop playing new things, when you close your mind, you're done. You have to keep moving and creating!"

And that's exactly what Mick Mars is all about. A fighter. An artist. A legend.
