Summer hammam: for soft, hydrated and radiant skin
Tips and tricks … Because your skin shouldn't be dry! It's the queen's silk robe.
Even after sunbathing!
Summer is a time of sun, water, laughter and pleasant evenings outdoors. But it's also a time when our skin can feel exhausted, tight and dry! Especially if we've been at the seaside, in the sun - yes, even if you use SPF, or indulged in a "tanning detox" without too much cosmetics.
But don't worry, dear reader. We're not going to overwhelm you with a product list or boring instructions. Today, I'm bringing you something different:
Summer hammam. Ritual. Body care as an act of love.
What is a hammam and why women around the world love it?
Hammam is a traditional Arabic/Turkish ritual that combines body cleansing, hydration, relaxation and gentle exfoliation. It is not just a “bath”. It is rebirth for your skin.
And you don't have to be in Istanbul to experience it. All you need is a bathroom, 20 minutes of peace and a little willpower.

More details:
- Steam bath: The pores open, the muscles relax and the body prepares for peeling.
- Peeling: Dead skin is removed using a special kessa glove.
- Soap foam: The soap foam is used to further cleanse the body.
- Massage: The hammam also includes a relaxing massage.
- Temperature and humidity: The room is heated and the humidity is higher, which helps the body warm up.
- Religious meaning: Hammam also has religious significance in Islamic cultures, as a ritual purification, as Wikipedia says.
Experience: Hammam is an experience that can be both relaxing and cleansing, and is popularized as a wellness experience, as E-lazne.eu says.
Hammam at home: your personal goddess ritual
What you will need:
- Savon noir (black olive soap)
- Ghassoul (Moroccan clay powder)
- Honey (ideally raw)
- Eucalyptus or lavender oil
- Kessa gloves (or other exfoliating washcloth)
How to do it:
- Get in the shower or bath and let your skin steam up nicely.
- Mix a ritual paste: 1 tablespoon of savon noir + 1 teaspoon of honey + 1 tablespoon of ghassoula + 2 drops of essential oil according to your mood.
- Apply the paste to damp skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes.
- Then gently but thoroughly scrub the glove.
- Rinse and apply solid oil or a gentle body lotion.
Why it works?
- Black soap cleans without drying
- Ghassoul tightens pores, regenerates and firms
- Copper soothes, hydrates and heals
- Eucalyptus refreshes the mind and body
And most importantly: it's your time. Your hands, your skin, your attention. And that does more than any cream costing a thousand.
Additional tips:
- Treat sunburned areas with floral water (rose or lavender) and coconut oil.
- Dry skin on thighs or above elbows? Hammam + brush + collagen.
- Hydration starts inside: water + lemon slice + pinch of salt + cucumber = elixir for summer.
The most authentic hammams can be found in Turkey or the Arab world – but the good news is? You don't necessarily have to go to the airport for a ritual of rebirth. If you're craving a true hammam experience in the Czech Republic, try pampering yourself at the Wellness Hotel Babylon in Liberec, where you can indulge in a traditional cleansing of body and soul in a luxurious environment.
